The All New Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd has launched the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec C. This car has been added to the existing WRX STI line up. It is a high-performance car, and the driving feel is sensational. The C stands for competition and even though Subaru has pulled out of the World Rally Championship it retains the rallying spirit. The only way to distinguish this car from the previous model is by checking out the wheel arches. The car has a 2.0 liter DOHC 16 valve flat four EJ20 engine that generates 305 horsepower at 6400 rpm. It has got a better eEngine control unit that pushes the car to perform even better. The weight of the car has also been reduced to 70 kilogram, and this gives an additional advantage. The customer can choose the 18 inch standard alloy or 17 inch alloy wheels. The Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires provide better stability and control during cornering. The weight has been reduced due to the use of lighter batteries, an aluminum hood, and laminar glasses on the side and front windows.

The car was put to a 0.9 mile test track in SS pack circuit, and the results showed considerable improvement in the performance of the vehicle. The spec C completed the course in 59.8 seconds while the older STI took 61.0 seconds to complete the circuit. The production of the rally car will be limited to 900 units and the price has not yet been confirmed. The spec C model comes with Brembo brake calipers. The buyer has the option of choosing between Recaro and Alcantara leather seats. The car will be available either in pure-white color or a sunrise yellow shade.

The intake air temperature is reduced with the use of inter cooler water spray system. Traction control seems to be superior with the use of mechanical LSD instead of the Torsen unit. The engine of the spec C is extremely responsive and shows improved accelerating performance. The stiffening of the chassis and incorporating a few lighter components makes this a true sports car. The handling of the car has bettered with stiffer springs and shock absorbers, reinforced front ends, large anti-roll bars and upgraded sub frame bushings. A lot of enhancements have been brought about in the engine performance. New ball bearings were adopted to reduce the friction in the turbine axle. The ECU programming can be optimized which this leads to better-pedal response, and the car accelerates with ease. By increasing the oil flow volume in the power- steering system, the handling is remarkably nimble. Rear stabilizer and rear bushes increases the rigidity of the vehicle.
